This is my original painting of harvest mice on a tulip in watercolor and ink. It is size 9×12″ and is mounted on a wooden frame and sealed with a varnish. It is light weight ready to hang on a wall.
This is one of the first times that I mounted watercolor paper on wood, and I just want to let people know that there are some speckles on the paper and a little wrinkle where the paper is not perfectly flat to the wood.
About this piece:
In areas of Europe and Asia you can find tiny harvest mice climbing tulip stems to munch on protein rich pollen, or taking a nap inside the flower. They have especially long prehensile tails to help them keep their balance. They are so cute it doesn’t seem real! (Even their scientific name is cute sounding: Micromys minutus.) A little bit of magic in real life.
